  • Nielsen introduced a weekly top 10 list of streaming TV shows and movies earlier this month that measured Netflix and Prime Video.
  • Starting this week, Nielsen included Disney Plus and Hulu.
  • Netflix still dominated the list with all 10 spots, though.
  • "Lucifer" dethroned "The Umbrella Academy" this week and "Project Power" is the only movie.

Nielsen's new weekly ranking of the top streaming movies and TV shows factors in Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, and Hulu.

But you wouldn't know that by looking at the list.

This week's list is, once again, made up entirely of Netflix, even though Nielsen began counting Disney Plus and Hulu for the first time. When Nielsen introduced its streaming list earlier this month — which is based on the number of minutes watched for a given title — it only counted Netflix and Prime Video, and Netflix accounted for all 10 spots then.

Netflix has more than 190 million subscribers worldwide, while Disney Plus has 60.5 million and Hulu has more than 30 million.

"The Umbrella Academy" topped that first list, but was dethroned this week by another Netflix original, "Lucifer." It slipped to No. 3, following "The Legend of Korra," which is not a Netflix original.

The Netflix original "Project Power" was the only movie on the list.

Below is this week's full list, based on data from the week of August 17 to August 23:

  1. "Lucifer" — 1.59 billion minutes
  2. "The Legend of Korra" — 1.25 billion
  3. "The Umbrella Academy" — 1.09 billion
  4. "The Office" — 928 million
  5. "Shameless" — 803 million
  6. "Grey's Anatomy" — 764 million
  7. "Project Power" — 761 million
  8. "Criminal Minds" —713 million
  9. "NCIS" — 533 million
  10. "Teenage Bounty Hunters" — 422 million

This week's list again shows how Netflix's library of old TV shows is important for the streamer, but there are more original programs this time. While "The Umbrella Academy" was the only Netflix original on that first list, this week includes original hits like "Lucifer" and "Teenage Bounty Hunters."

"The Office" has consistently been a hit on Netflix and continues to be popular with subscribers, but the series is leaving the streaming giant at the end of the year for NBCUniversal's Peacock.

The list is a contrast to Netflix's own daily top 10 list of its most popular titles, which tend to favor its original content. Netflix's lists are based on how many users have watched at least two minutes of a title in the last 24 hours, as opposed to Nielsen, which measures minutes watched.
