  • Seth Meyers' first Netflix comedy special debuts Tuesday, and it will include a button that allows users to skip past his jokes about President Donald Trump, according to CNN Business' Frank Pallotta.
  • The button is based on Netflix's existing option that lets viewers skip the title sequence of a show, and Meyers pitched the idea to Netflix himself.
  • Considering Meyers' previous success with political humor about the president, he told CNN Business the button is more of a joke and that he doesn't think his audience will use it.

Seth Meyers' debut Netflix comedy special "Lobby Baby" will include bits about his experience as a father, the tale of his wife's unorthodox experience giving birth, and a feature Netflix designed at Meyers' request that lets users skip the Trump jokes, Frank Pallotta reported for CNN Business.

Meyers came up with the idea for a button that takes viewers past his political comedy the same way they skip show introductions while binge watching, according to CNN. When he transitions from talking about his family and personal life to poking fun at the president, viewers can opt out of watching that segment.

"It was a way to build in the response to anyone who would say, 'Oh, let me guess there's going to be jokes about the President,'" Meyers told CNN Business.

Over his years as a Saturday Night Live cast member, host of SNL's "Weekend Update," and host of his own talk show "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Meyers has not shied away from poking fun at the president and criticizing him in a more serious manner, as well.

On "Late Night," he has said Trump is "worse than Nixon," "deeply unfit for the office," and has a "huge" ego. He also repeatedly criticized Trump's healthcare plan and slammed him for his part in the "war on the free press." And years before he had the platform of "Late Night," Meyers joked about Trump at the 2011 White House Correspondents' Dinner.

After years of building a comedic repertoire around making fun of Trump, Meyers pitched the Trump skip button to Netflix as a useful feature, but also as a joke in and of itself, Pallotta reported.

Meyers said he hopes fans will think the button is funny, but that he doesn't think they'll actually skip his Trump material.

"I think, look, sometimes at a fancy restaurant they'll put parsley on your plate and you'll think, 'Well, that's a nice touch,'" Meyers told CNN Business. "But you're not going to eat the parsley."
