Natalie Portman says King Charles asked her if she was in the original 'Star Wars' movies at 'The Phantom Menace' premiere

Having worked in Hollywood most of her life, Natalie Portman has had countless interesting encounters.

Appearing on "Watch What Happens Live" on Monday, the actor shared one of those experiences: meeting Britain's King Charles.

The setting was the 1999 London premiere of "Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace."

As the first "Star Wars" movie to hit theaters since 1983, it was a big deal that brought the British royals to the event.

"WWHL" host Andy Cohen asked Portman what she remembered of her interaction with the royal family.

"I remember Prince Charles asked me — he was then Prince Charles — if I was in the originals," Portman said with a laugh.

"I was like, 'I'm 18,'" said Portman, who played Padmé Amidala in the "Star Wars" prequels. "But he was very friendly."

The Oscar winner, who was on the show alongside Julianne Moore to promote their Netflix movie "May December," said starring in the "Star Wars" saga was "amazing."

"It was the first time I had shot digitally," she said. "I don't think anyone was shooting that way then. It was the first time working with a green screen. It was a whole new set of skills to pick up."

Asked if there has been any talk of Padmé returning in an upcoming "Star Wars" series or movie, Portman said: "No, there have not been… no one has asked me, but I'm open to it."

Portman's costar in the prequel trilogy, Hayden Christensen, recently reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the "Star Wars" Disney+ series "Obi-Wan Kenobi" and "Ahsoka."
