New information has emerged about the death of "Friends" star Matthew Perry, found unresponsive in a hot tub on Saturday.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to announce a specific cause of death as the results of an autopsy were inconclusive and could take up to six months for toxicology reports to come back.
However, in police dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, an emergency responder can be heard saying they were responding to "the drowning" shortly after the actor's death.
Representatives for the Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
Los Angeles Police Capt. Scot Williams told The Los Angeles Times over the weekend that foul play isn't suspected in Perry's death. The Times also reported that a source told the outlet no drugs were found on the property aside from prescription medication.
Perry's family released a statement via People thanking fans for their support during the difficult time. They said: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him, and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."
The 54-year-old actor was best known for playing Chandler Bing on "Friends," which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. However, in a 2022 interview, the star said he didn't want the beloved sitcom to be the only thing he's remembered for after his death.
He also starred in a number of movies over the years, including "Fools Rush In," "The Whole Nine Yards," and "17 Again."
In the days leading up to his death, Perry posted a photo of himself in the hot tub with headphones on, writing in the caption: "Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I'm Mattman."
This was just one of many occasions where the star referenced his love for Batman, and even had a Batcave of his own, filled with memorabilia from the various DC movies about the hero.
