Over the past 4 years, MAMI Year Round Programme has created a vibrant community of film lovers who converge to attend weekly screenings of cutting edge films, masterclasses and sessions that take place across the year. In light of the pandemic, to make access to great cinema even more convenient, the programme launched an online extension to it: MAMI Year Round Programme Home Theatre and Dial M For Films a first of its kind online knowledge series.
“MUBI has a fantastic slate of films. A lot of their Indian titles have begun their journey at MAMI. At heart, MAMI and MUBI are connected. It was too tempting an opportunity to pass up. Thrilled that we are partnering with them to put the spotlight on one title a month out of their diverse and dense library.” said Smriti Kiran (Artistic Director, MAMI).
The collaboration with MUBI is a natural fit as both MAMI and MUBI believe in championing and celebrating great cinema and curation. Films such as Gamak Ghar by Achal Mishra, Amdavad Ma Famous (Famous in Ahmedabad) by Hardik Mehta, Kothanodi by Bhaskar Hazarika, An Insignificant Man by Khushboo Ranka & Vinay Shukla, Attihannu Mattu Kanaja (Fig Fruit And The Wasps) by M.S. Prakash Babu, Beanpole by Kantemir Balagov and Bacurau from Kleber Mendonça Filho & Juliano Dornelles have begun their journey at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival before finding a home on MUBI in India.
Speaking about the tie-up, Svetlana Naudiyal (Director of Content, MUBI INDIA) said, “We are really excited that MAMI and MUBI have come together to create this first of its kind partnership in India, through which we will be able to extend MUBI’s hand-picked films to MAMI Year Round Programme members. There is an inherent philosophical synergy in our visions towards bringing the best of films from around the world to audiences in India, and as we navigate these challenging times, collaboration in our industry is now more important than ever to create new avenues for audience participation.”

About MAMI Year Round Programme
The MAMI Year Round Programme, which was created in 2016 is a one of a kind film programme started by Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) with the belief that it is not enough in an ecosystem like India to have just a week-long film festival. The Academy (MAMI) hosts weekly screenings, workshops and conversation sessions for film lovers in the country. This has given the Academy a year-long imprint and presence as opposed to presence only for a week in the year. Through this programme, passionate film lovers can sign up and get free access to the best and latest Indian and international films, series and talent throughout the year. The Year Round Programme now has an online extension to it; MAMI Year Round Programme Home Theatre, which empowers filmmakers to bring their films to audiences directly.
