"The Terminator" actor Linda Hamilton says she's humbled to work with Alan Tudyk and the rest of the cast on "Resident Alien."

The SYFY series revolves around Harry Vanderspeigle (Alan Tudyk), an alien masquerading as a human doctor in the fictional small town of Patience, Colorado who is tasked with killing humanity and taking over the planet for his own race. But he struggles with that mission when he starts working with the townsfolk.

Hamilton plays General Eleanor McCallister in the series, a high-ranking military official who hunts aliens and initially serves as the show's antagonist. But by the end of season two, it looked like the pair might form an unlikely partnership to stop a terrifying race of aliens called "the Greys."

Speaking to Business Insider before "Resident Alien" season three premiered on Wednesday, Hamilton said that Harry's idiosyncratic nature will make their partnership difficult.

She explained: "He's going to be Harry no matter what. So we have an uncomfortable alliance in season three and it's very frustrating for the general, that's for sure."

But the star said she loved getting the chance to finally work more with Tudyk and the rest of the cast on the third season after spending previous episodes away from most of the action.

"They are so comedic. I'm humbled, man. Every day I'm on set, I mean, they're just constantly correcting me because I really am just the straight man," she said.

"So it hurts, but it's also like going to comedy camp and watching some of the best people work. The ladies, Alan Tudyk, Corey Reynolds, they're all fantastic."

Hamilton also admitted that she's occasionally caught off guard by Tudyk's comedic skills, adding: "Every once in a while something will slip through that is just so vulnerable that I forget that I am Eleanor McCallister that I'm just like 'Oh, that's adorable! I'm like, wait a minute.' So it's funny, it keeps me on my toes."

Because of her iconic role as rebel fighter Sarah Connor in "The Terminator" franchise, Hamilton is often sent a number of science-fiction scripts to choose from. But she was immediately charmed by the "Resident Alien" script from creator Chris Sheridan.

"You don't necessarily [know], but I was just so drawn to the writing and sometimes you just read something, and I want to be part of it. Just give me anything," she said.

"I love writing, and Chris Sheridan is just so lovely and talented and it's so poignant," Hamilton continued. "So I'm just in there serving the project as best I can. Being the humorless, sort of straight man, part."

"Resident Alien" season three airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on SYFY. The first two seasons are also currently streaming on Netflix.
