Linda Hamilton says she wouldn't star in a 'Terminator' reboot: 'It's been done to death'
- Linda Hamilton isn't interested in starring in any future "Terminator" movies.
- The star told Business Insider that she doesn't think the franchise should be rebooted.
It's been over four years since Linda Hamilton reprised her role as Sarah Connor in "Terminator: Dark Fate," but she told Business Insider that she's not interested in returning to the franchise.
1984's "The Terminator" revolves around a killer robot that is sent back in time to assassinate Connor, the mother of a rebel leader in the future where the machines have overthrown the human race.
After returning to play Connor in "T2: Judgement Day," she said "Hasta la vista, baby" to the series until 2019's "Dark Fate," which sees an older version of Sarah team up with a friendlier version of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator.
In May 2023, "The Terminator" creator James Cameron told audiences at the Dell Tech World conference that he's working on a reboot of the franchise (via GamesRadar).
But Hamilton told Business Insider ahead of the release of "Resident Alien" season three, that she isn't interested in battling another killing machine.
"I'm done. I'm done. I have nothing more to say. The story's been told, and it's been done to death," she explained.
Hamilton added: "Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me. But I know our Hollywood world is built on relaunches right now."
Linda Hamilton said Sarah Connor is 'not an icon'
The star went on to say that she struggled with the praise that fans heaped on her character over the years, pointing out that Connor makes some bad decisions during the franchise.
"I truly feel like, and felt like, Sarah Connor is not an icon. She's a woman in hell. She makes some really bad choices. She's not a good mother, she's a good fighter!" she said.
"So you sort of try to parse the details out and go 'Well, they respect her strength and her power, and I did create a warrior, but she's very imperfect. She's an imperfect person.'"
Hamilton went on to say that she's made peace with how fans treat her as if she herself fought evil time-traveling robots from the future.
"So it was hard to sort of come to terms with all that and then just go, 'Okay, I can accept it,' because I've heard it now for so many years, people actually treat me like I saved the future."
She joked: "If you could see how utterly hapless I am during my life and my daily life! But it's pretty cute, and I have no complaints, it's delightful."
