Lauren Sánchez has officially made her Met Gala debut.
After weeks of speculation and reports that Anna Wintour herself was wooing Jeff Bezos' fiancée to attend the event, Sánchez climbed the iconic Met Gala steps in a chic Oscar de la Renta gown.
The strapless dress featured a black velvet bodice that flowed into a voluminous skirt decorated with giant roses designed to appear like shattered glass.
Sánchez's ensemble perfectly fit the night's "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" theme, which had a dress code of "Garden of Time." She told Vogue that she wanted something different for her first Met Gala than the "extremely sexy, low cut" styles she usually favors.
"I felt it was extremely unique and has a sense of femininity," she added.
Sánchez believes the dress is also a metaphor for life.
"It's a little bit about all your broken pieces in life and putting those pieces back together," she told Vogue. "It's not just a dress. It is really a piece of art.
In the five years since she and Bezos went public with their relationship, Sánchez has slowly been building her status among the elite of both Hollywood and politics.
Last month, the Emmy-award-winning news anchor made headlines after she wore a bold, off-the-shoulder, corseted red dress to a lavish White House state dinner.
Sánchez's influence became clear when everyone from Chrissy Teigen to Jessica Seinfeld publicly defended her after restaurateur Keith McNally called her "absolutely revolting" on an Instagram post days later.
Now, with a Met Gala under her belt, it's clear Sánchez hopes to join the ranks of fashion's biggest power players.
