Bass, who performed alongside Timberlake in the music group NSYNC, revealed that he bought a copy of Spears' memoir and planned to read it during his plane ride.

"Look, I mean, everyone has their own opinion," Bass, 44, told the outlet. "I feel like the world is so full of hate right now that we need to practice a little forgiveness. Britney did. Let's take a note from her," he said.

He added: "Look, everyone deserves to tell their story. She did, and I hope the fans can find some forgiveness," after he was asked about the online backlash Timberlake faced.

Representatives for Spears and Timberlake did not respond to Insider's request for comment made outside regular business hours.

Spears' memoir debuted on Tuesday and included previously unknown details about her relationship with Timberlake. The former couple were castmates on "The All-New Mickey Mouse Club" in the early 90s who began dating in 1999 and called it quits in 2002. Spears revealed in her memoir that she had an "agonizing" abortion while dating Timberlake because he "didn't want to be a father."

Spears also said she felt "shamed" after Timberlake released the 2002 music video for "Cry Me a River," which implied that Spears cheated on him. Spears admitted to cheating on Timberlake with choreographer Wade Robson in her memoir but also wrote that Timberlake cheated on her several times throughout their relationship.

"Everyone felt very sorry for him. And it shamed me. I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story," Spears' wrote. "I couldn't explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version."

The details shocked fans, prompting some to lob hate toward Timberlake online. Page Six reported that the backlash may have contributed to Timberlake turning off his Instagram comments to avoid further responses.
