1987: The actors fell for each other while making the movie 'Lemon Sky'

They starred together in the 1988 PBS movie based on the Lanford Wilson play.

In 2012, Sedgwick recalled on "Conan" how Bacon asked her out during production. She said Bacon suggested that they get dinner together after his workout at the gym and her massage.

"And I'm thinking, 'Yeah sure, that's not going to happen. I'm not going to tell him when my massage is,'" she said.

However, when her appointment was done, Bacon was there waiting for her.

"Years later, he told me he had actually called downstairs and I was getting massaged, which is kind of creepy, but whatever," she joked.

April 1987: Bacon and Sedgwick were seen together in New York City

For one of their first appearances as a couple, Sedgwick and Bacon attended "Illuminations: An AIDS Benefit" at the New York City club, Limelight.

December 24, 1987: The couple got engaged

Bacon proposed to Sedgwick on Christmas Eve in 1987 by putting the engagement ring in her Christmas stocking, Bacon said on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in 2021.

Though Sedgwick said yes, there was a problem, which Bacon found out three months later.

"We're lying in bed and she wakes up in the middle of the night, and she's crying, and she's crying, and she can't even say what's going on," Bacon told Clarkson. "Finally, she goes, 'I don't like the ring!'"

Bacon admitted he was just relieved she wasn't breaking up with him. "I don't care, we'll take it back," he told Sedgwick.

September 4, 1988: Bacon and Sedgwick got married

The pair tied the knot about nine months after getting engaged.

June 23, 1989: They welcomed their first child, Travis

Their son Travis came not too long after the couple said their vows.

Sedgwick revealed to More magazine in 2010 that they decided to start a family during their honeymoon.

"We were like, 'Let's just not use birth control,'" she said. "I didn't think it was going to happen so fast. I got pregnant in two weeks."

1991: Bacon and Sedgwick spiced things up in the movie 'Pyrates'

In the straight-to-VHS movie, the actors play on their red-hot relationship by starring as a couple who can start fires when they make love.

March 15, 1992: The couple welcomed their second child, Sosie

As both of their careers were on the rise, Bacon and Sedgwick had their second child, a daughter they named Sosie.

January 21, 1995: The couple attended the Golden Globes together

That evening, Bacon was nominated for best supporting actor for his performance in "The River Wild."

2004: They starred together in two movies, 'Cavedweller' and 'The Woodsman'

2004 was a busy year for Bacon and Sedgwick.

In "Cavedweller," a drama directed by Lisa Cholodenko, Sedgwick stars as a traumatized musician. Bacon plays her husband who dies.

In "The Woodsman," Bacon plays a child molester trying to reform himself after getting out of prison. Sedgwick plays his girlfriend.

2006: Bacon directed Sedgwick in 'Loverboy'

"Loverboy" marks the first time Bacon directed his wife, but the drama also stars their kids. Sosie plays a younger version of Sedgwick while Travis also has a small part.

Bacon also directed episodes of Sedgwick's hit TV series "The Closer" from 2006-2009.

January 17, 2010: Sedgwick supported Bacon at the Golden Globes, again

Bacon won best actor in a miniseries or a movie made for TV for his role as a military escort officer in the HBO movie "Taking Chance."

August 29, 2010: They went to the Emmys together, where Sedgwick won for 'The Closer'

Sedgwick won the award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her performance in "The Closer."

She was previously nominated four times for the role.

2013: Sedgwick revealed her sex life with Bacon was still steamy

In an interview with Redbook, Sedgwick revealed she still has a lot of feelings for her husband — though by then, they were together for 26 years.

"When he walks into a room, I'm still ... I mean, my heart gets a little fluttery and I think, Oh! He's so cute. He's so hot. That's literally the first thing I think," she said. "You can ask people on the set — it's palpable. He's still a mystery to me."

January 12, 2014: Their daughter Sosie was a Golden Globes Ambassador

Though Sosie made her screen debut as a kid in "Loverboy," she made her legitimate Hollywood debut as an adult at the Golden Globes.

She's since starred in "13 Reasons Why," "Mare of Easttown," and the hit horror movie "Smile."

June 2022: Sedgwick directed Bacon in the movie 'Space Oddity'

In Sedgwick's latest directing effort about a young man who plans a trip to Mars, she cast Bacon in the role of the man's concerned father.

June 28, 2022: They participated in a 'Footloose' TikTok trend

"Figured we'd give it a spin," Bacon, who was the star of "Footloose," wrote in his Instagram caption about doing the trend with Sedgwick.

October 2022: Bacon talked about losing 'most' of their money due to Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme

Bacon spoke about what happened while on the "SmartLess" podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett.

"We had most of our money in Madoff," Bacon told the hosts, around the 24-minute mark of the episode, after Hayes brought up the topic.

"There's obvious life lessons there. You know, if something is too good to be true, it's too good to be true," Bacon said. "When something like that happens, you know, you look at each other, then you go, 'Well, that sucks. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work,' you know?"

"Certainly, you get angry and stuff, but I have to say that there were a lot of people who were much worse off than we were," Bacon continued. "Old people, people whose retirement funds were completely decimated. There's always gonna be somebody that's gonna have it a lot worse than you."

"We've made it this far. Our kids are healthy. We're healthy," he said of how they got through it. "Let's look at what we have that's good. We can still both work."

February 8, 2023: They performed a cover of Miley Cyrus' 'Flowers'

For years, Bacon has played with his brother Michael in the band The Bacon Brothers.

But for this viral video, he sang a duet with Sedgwick to cover the hit Cyrus song.

September 4, 2023: For their 35th wedding anniversary Bacon celebrated life with Sedgwick

In an Instagram caption, the star wrote, "35 years feels like a heartbeat."
