Kelly Clarkson has admitted that she pees "almost every time" she showers, reigniting the debate over celebrities' bathing habits.

In an interview set to air Wednesday on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," host Clarkson was joined by "Saturday Night Live" star Kenan Thompson for a discussion on hygiene habits, prompted by the comedian's new advice book, "When I Was Your Age."

It turns out that the two stars have very different personal hygiene preferences, with Clarkson admitting that she has both peed and brushed her teeth while showering.

"Here's the thing. I don't regularly brush my teeth in the shower. I just do if I'm in a hurry," Clarkson said. "Now, I do happen to be in a hurry often."

"That's fine because that's where you're at in the world," Thompson responded. "I'm on the whole other side where I find it to be gross and I don't do it."

Thompson went on to say that in his book he also discusses the importance of making sure to wash every part of your body in the shower — something he and Clarkson also seemed to disagree on.

"I think there's another mention of like, maybe washing your legs in the shower. Get all the way, don't just leave your ankles out," said the comedian.

"But wait, when you're washing up here, it does wash down," Clarkson interjected as she mimicked washing her upper body.

"That's how you're… see, just different approaches to life, it's fine," Thompson responded.

Clarkson then asked Thompson if he pees in the shower, prompting him to look away.

While Clarkson said she pees "almost every time in the shower," the "Kenan & Kel" star said: "I would lie if I said I had never done it, but I try not to."

Clarkson went on: "No, but you can't help it. It goes back to that childhood sleepover, they put your hand in the hot water, and sometimes you pee. The hot water hits your body and — not every time, but, like, if I've gotta go."

"I'm not against it. I've not never done it. I've done it. But when I do do it, I always feel so ashamed," Thompson responded.

"You know what I feel — I feel productive," Clarkson said to encouraging applause from the audience.

Clarkson is not the first celebrity to reveal her divisive bathing habits.

Several stars have admitted that they don't bathe regularly, with "Barbie" star America Ferrera admitting earlier this year that her guilty pleasure is "not showering for a few days."

In 2021, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis told Dax Shepard on his podcast "Armchair Expert" that there was "no point" in bathing their children every day unless "you can see the dirt on them."

Shepard's wife Kristen Bell also admitted that she "waits for the stink" before bathing their daughters, and Jake Gyllenhaal told Vanity Fair that not bathing every day helps his "skin maintenance."

However, their comments were quickly met with disapproval from fans and even some celebrities.

Dwayne Johnson posted on X (then known as Twitter) that he is "the opposite of a 'not washing themselves' celeb" and shared his routine.

Jodie Turner-Smith, Jason Momoa, Cardi B, and Terry Crews were also in the camp of celebrities who bathe or shower regularly.
