"Keeping Up With the Kardashians" is ending after 14 years and 20 seasons, according to an Instagram post shared by Kim Kardashian West on Tuesday.

Addressing the news "to our amazing fans," Kardashian West wrote, "It is with heavy hearts that we've made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

"After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who've watched us for all of these years."

According to Kardashian West, the final season of the popular show will air in early 2021.

"Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn't be where I am today," she wrote. "This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever."

Khloé Kardashian also tweeted about the news, telling followers, "Change is tough but sometimes needed."

The news comes after a tumultuous past few months for the show, which focuses on the lives of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters Kim, Khloé, Kourtney, Kylie, and Kendall, as well as their mother, Kris.

In April, Showbiz 411 reported that ratings for "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" had fallen in recent weeks.

And in July, Kourtney Kardashian left the show, saying she felt "unfulfilled" and that the reality program "became a toxic environment for me."

While the family was able to continue filming in quarantine when most TV-show production was shut down earlier this year, it wasn't without major adjustments.

The show's executive producer Farnaz Farjam told Elle in May that the Kardashian-Jenner family members had to film themselves on iPhones, capturing 16 hours of camera time each week. Every Monday, a showrunner in protective gear had to then collect each smartphone and drop off new ones to the family's security teams for the next cycle of recording.

It's unclear how long the family kept up this routine, how much the financial cost was, or if it was a factor in deciding to end the series.

But recently, the Kardashian-Jenner siblings have moved away from their reality-TV origins, as the sisters also have their own successful brands and careers.

Kourtney Kardashian has the lifestyle site Poosh, while Khloé Kardashian is the cofounder of Good American, a clothing company.

Kim Kardashian West is famously doing a law apprenticeship and advocating for prison reform in addition to promoting her brands Skims and KKW Beauty.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kardashian West announced she and her sisters Kourtney and Khloé had teamed up for another collaborative KKW Fragrance collection.

Kendall Jenner is a fashion model and her sister Kylie owns her Kylie Cosmetics empire.
