Judge Judy says she turned down the opportunity to make a cameo in "Legally Blonde."
Judy Sheindlin, the TV judge in the series "Judy Justice," told E! News that missing out on a role in the iconic film was her "one regret."
"They reached out through someone and said, 'We'd like you to be the judge,'" Sheindlin said, referring to the character in the murder trial scene of the 2001 film which starred Reese Witherspoon.
The 81-year-old actor ended up declining the role for reasons she didn't specify — but says, in hindsight, that she should have accepted it.
"It's the biggest mistake I ever made in my career," Sheindlin said. "Not playing that part in that movie."
The role of the judge in "Legally Blonde" eventually went to actor Francesca P. Roberts.
"Sometimes you have to take the adventure and run with it," Sheindlin added.
In a 2022 interview with E! News, Sheindlin said she wouldn't mind having Witherspoon play her in a biopic.
"We're friends, and she gets me, and I know she does," Sheindlin told E! News. "And I think she's a great actress, and I think she could — if they did, which I would not like — I think that she could carry that off."
