John Stamos says he once caught his girlfriend in bed with Tony Danza, but she denies cheating: 'We had broken up'
  • John Stamos says in his memoir he caught his then-girlfriend Teri Copley in bed with Tony Danza.
  • In a recent interview, Copley denied cheating on Stamos, saying the two had already broken up by that time.

John Stamos claims in his new memoir that his ex-girlfriend, former model Teri Copley, once cheated on him with Tony Danza. But Copley insists that she and Stamos were broken up by the time he caught her in bed with the "Who's The Boss?" star.

In his memoir "If You Would Have Told Me," released Tuesday, Stamos reflects on his relationship with Copley, who he dated for about a year in the 1980s. In one chapter, he recalls that he was getting nervous about the status of their relationship, so he decided to drive over to her home to talk things through with her one night. As Stamos was driving, he listened to Elton John's song "Tiny Dancer" and thought of Copley, he wrote.

Upon arriving, however, he found the house dark, and a Porsche Speedster parked in the driveway with a racy poster of Copley inside. And when he went around back to the guesthouse, Stamos recalls finding the door half open, and seeing "four feet protruding from the shabby chic, floral print duvet that once kept me warm."

"My Tiny Dancer is in bed with Mr. Porsche Speedster. They are sleeping. I can't tell who he is, but I recognize Teri's ass barely covered by the sheets. It looks like her new poster," he writes. "My heart is beating out of my chest. My mind is racing, and the room is spinning. I feel like throwing up all over her white shag carpet. It's my worst nightmare."

According to Stamos, after shedding a few tears and briefly considering beating up Copley's new paramour, he ends up fleeing the scene — but not before noticing that Copley had signed the poster in the Porsche for "Tony," as in, Tony Danza.

Copley, for her part, maintained in a recent interview that their relationship was already done when she slept with Danza.

"I wondered, 'What was John doing there?' because we had broken up. He just looked at me and shook his head, and walked away," Copley told People of the incident mentioned in Stamos' memoir.

Representatives for Stamos and Danza didn't immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.

Around 40 years later, it seems that it's water under the bridge for Stamos. Later in the memoir, he even jokingly thanks Danza for helping make "Full House" a hit — ABC decided to air his show "Who's the Boss?" ahead of summer reruns of "Full House" in order to garner audience interest, which ultimately worked.
