- John Stamos revealed in his new memoir that he and Bob Saget once got into an argument on the set of an Annie Leibovitz photoshoot.
- The two "Full House" costars were arguing over who got to hold Mary-Kate Olsen, Stamos said.
John Stamos and Bob Saget may have portrayed close-knit family members on "Full House," but in real life, things between the actors were a bit more contentious when they first met.
In his new memoir "If You Would Have Told Me," which was released on Tuesday, Stamos revealed that he and Saget, who died in 2022, would frequently bicker on set over line changes and their respective approaches to their roles.
"During photoshoots or promos for the show, Bob and I often jockey to be the one holding Michelle. We argue over who should be in the center or do single photos with Mary-Kate or Ashley," Stamos wrote of his and Saget's "Full House" costars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who shared the role of Michelle Tanner on the show.
Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse on the show, even recalled an incident where he and Saget caused drama on the set of a photo shoot due to their bickering.
"Bob and I are carrying on with our pettiness at a shoot with renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. She's had enough and kicks everyone off the set but me and Mary-Kate," the "General Hospital" star said. "She captures a sweet shot of Jesse and Michelle wrapped in a blanket, both somehow looking equally innocent."
According to Stamos, Saget wasn't happy that he missed out on an opportunity to pose with Mary-Kate, and Stamos' gloating didn't help.
"I jokingly suggested to Bob that he take off his shirt, grab a binky, and come cuddle with me in the blankie," Stamos recalled in his memoir, adding that his "Full House" costar didn't find the remark funny.
Despite their differences during the early seasons of the beloved sitcom, Saget and Stamos eventually formed a lasting friendship.
The musician reflected on his friendship with Saget in a recent interview with "Good Morning America," reiterating that they didn't get along at first.
"Bob was addicted to laughs. It was a drug for him, he had to make people laugh," Stamos said.
Stamos also said in the interview that Saget's widow Kelly Rizzo called him "crying" after reading his memoir.
"She said, 'You know, if you don't know Bob and you read this book, you know the real Bob. You did a beautiful job representing him,'" Stamos recalled.
"If You Would Have Told Me" is out now.
