Jeff Bridges revealed on his website that he caught COVID-19 in January and was hospitalized for weeks while undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.

The Academy Award-winning actor, known for his roles in "Iron Man" and "The Big Lebowski," wrote that he had received a letter after a chemotherapy treatment on January 7th, saying he had been exposed to coronavirus. Bridges and his wife Sue Bridges then shared an ambulance to the ICU where they tested positive for covid.

She was in the hospital for 5 days, while he stayed for 5 weeks, Bridges wrote.

"The reason I'm there so long is because my immune system is shot from the chemo," he wrote. "My dance with [COVID-19] makes my cancer look like a piece of cake."

Bridges was positive about his time recovering from both COVID-19 and his cancer.

He continued: "But here's the weird deal. While I had moments of tremendous pain (screaming singing, a sort of moaning song all through the night) getting close to the pearly gates, all in all, I felt happy & joyous most of the time. This brush with mortality has brought me a real gift - life is brief and beautiful. Love is all around us and available @ all times."

He had pre-written this post revealing he had covid back in March but said that he did not want to release it until he got a "handle" on the virus.

Bridges added that he is now double vaccinated and "feeling much better." Bridges also announced that his cancer was in remission.

The 71-year-old actor wrote: "The 9″ x 12″ mass has shrunk down to the size of a marble."

Bridges was diagnosed with lymphoma last October, channeling his iconic character The Dude from "The Big Lebowski" when he told fans that "new s--- has come to light."

"Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good," Bridges said at the time. "I'm starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery."

The "Iron Man" star revealed on his website that he had been receiving Oxygen assistance during his treatment to be able to walk around. However, Bridges explained that his condition has improved in time for his daughter's wedding day.

"I had a goal - walking my daughter Hayley down the aisle," He wrote. "She was getting married to a wonderful guy, Justin Shane. Thanks to Zach and my terrific medical team, I was able to not only walk Hay down the aisle, but do the father/bride dance with her without oxygen."

Bridges shared a video of him dancing with his daughter on his website too.

He added that he is "excited" to resume his work on the FX series "The Old Man" for which he is the executive producer and star.
