Online movie and video content database IMDb’s latest list of top Indian movie stars has stars from both Bollywood and the South. This list is based on page views of the stars and the preferences of the 200 million people who visit the site every month. While Dhanush topped the list this year, the lead cast of Rajamouli’s RRR also made it to the list. A look at the full list:

Dhanush, who first courted Hindi-language audiences with Raanjhanaa in 2013, has slowly become a pan-India star. In 2022, he appeared in three Tamil language titles (Maaran, Thiruchitrambalam, and Naane Varuven), while also starring in the international drama, Netflix’s The Gray Man.

Bhatt won over the masses with her stellar performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, this year. Though she played the female lead in this year’s super hit Brahmastra: Part 1, she also continued her tryst with movies where she is the key protagonist like in Jasmeet Reen’s directorial debut Darlings.

After a gap of four years, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returned to the silver screen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan-1, leaving the audience impressed with her portrayal of Nandini in the period drama. She will reprise the role in the sequel.

As RRR impressed both, domestic and international audiences, Ram Charan Teja emerged as a crowd favourite for his depiction of Alluri Sitarama Raju. Charan, who also starred in the Telugu action-drama Acharya this year, will also have a cameo in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s popularity has slowly been rising with each performance, be it her deadly avatar in The Family Man 2, or her scintillating dance moves in Oo Antava from Pushpa. Of course, her clever responses on the talk show Koffee With Karan this year made her a star on social media as well. She was last seen in the action thriller Yashoda.

The only male actor from Bollywood on the list, Roshan left the audience awestruck with the way he interpreted the role of Vedha in the Hindi adaptation of Pushkar-Gayatri’s Tamil thriller Vikram Vedha. Roshan will next appear in the action film Fighter.

Ranked seventh on the list, Kiara Advani starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was one of the first movies in 2022 to rake in over ₹200 crore in worldwide collections. She also starred in Jugjugg Jeeyo this year, and will next appear in Govinda Naam Mera with Vicky Kaushal.

NT Rama Rao Jr. aka Jr. NTR. struck a chord with the audience for his impassioned portrayal of a tribla leader Komaram Bheem in Rajamouli’s RRR. Jr. NTR has a long association with director Rajamouli, having also starred in the director’s debut film Student No.1.

Ranked ninth on the list, Telugu movie star Allu Arjun is known for his phenomenal dancing skills. Arjun last appeared in the immensely popular action-drama Pushpa: The Rise (2021). The film’s sequel is currently in the works.

Yash had been ruling the Kannada film industry for a while, but the pan-India success of the 2018 action film KGF: Chapter 1 spread his popularity across India. In 2022, the sequel to KGF further bolstered his popularity, as the film went on to become one of highest grossing Indian films of the year.
