Rebecca Pearson died in her bed years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in season six episode 17, "The Train.". As she was dying, she imagined herself on a train.

Jack Pearson — who died years earlier because of a heart attack after a house fire, as shown in "Super Bowl Sunday," the fourteenth episode of the second season — met Rebecca on the train in her imagined afterlife.

Kevin Pearson lived in the house he built near the family cabin with his twins and Sophie. He was planning to devote most of his energy to his non-profit construction company for veterans, Big Three Homes.

Miguel died before Rebecca but was her caretaker until the very end of his life. His death was previously the focus of season six, episode 15, called "Miguel."

Dr. K, the OB-GYN who delivered Rebecca and Jack's triplets, is the bartender on Rebecca's train. He made her a Vesper martini, which is garnished with a lemon peel twist.

Randall's birth father William Hill, who'd died years earlier in the sixteenth episode of season one, also made a final appearance in the series finale, serving as Rebecca's tour guide on the train.
