Geri Halliwell is catching some heat for an Instagram post wishing her fellow Spice Girls bandmate Mel B a happy birthday that originally didn't seem to be written by her.

At first glance, it seemed fine — Halliwell posted a few throwback pics of Mel B to her 1.4 million Instagram followers for her 49th birthday. But fans quickly noticed that the text in that post was a little weird.

"Sent images to Pippa and this wording asked her to tweak where needed," the caption originally read, which has since been edited. "Happy birthday @officialmelb ! Hope you have an amazing day."

It seems that someone on Halliwell's social media team copied and pasted the text into the caption.

Business Insider reached out to Halliwell's rep for comment but didn't get a response.

The caption has since been edited to just, "Happy birthday @officialmelb ! Hope you have an amazing day." But the comment section hasn't held back on the blunder.

"Pippa has finally 'tweaked' the wording! It reads much more sincerely now," wrote one.

While another said: "One job Pippa. One job."

Rumors that Halliwell and Mel B are not the best of friends have swirled since they were known as Ginger Spice and Scary Spice, respectively, during the Spice Girls' chart-topping peak of the 1990s.

Most recently, Mel B admitted she'd been kicked out of the band's WhatsApp group chat because the others didn't trust her to keep their upcoming plans a secret.

However, in April, they reunited along with the other Spice Girls for Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday party. At the event, they gave an impromptu performance of their song "Stop," which David Beckham posted on his Instagram.
