Famous besties Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were both in attendance at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday night.

Swift, whose "Eras Tour" movie was nominated for cinematic and box office achievement, took Keleigh Teller as her date for the evening. (Teller previously costarred with her husband, Miles Teller, in Swift's "I Bet You Think About Me" music video.)

Gomez also earned a nomination for best performance by a female actor in a TV series, musical or comedy, for "Only Murders in the Building."

During a commercial break, Gomez made her way to Swift and Teller's table for an intimate chat. The cameras caught the women whispering into each other's ears and reacting with open mouths.

Fans were eager to circulate the photos and video clips, offering jokes and theories about the juicy information at hand.

One self-identified Selenator even Photoshopped an Instagram post from CNN, which claimed that Gomez and Swift were gossiping about Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet. The doctored post also included a fabricated comment from Gomez asking the outlet to "stop overanalyzing every damn move."

The fake image was mistakenly picked up by Pop Crave, the popular celebrity news account on X (formerly Twitter), which caused it to go viral. (The creator clarified, "I had no intentions for that mess.")

However, some fans still believe that Jenner and Chalamet were the subject of their chat. One person theorized that Gomez asked for a photo with her former "A Rainy Day in New York" costar, but his girlfriend said no.

While the theory remains unconfirmed, the X post has racked up over 300,000 likes and 35 million views since Sunday night.

Representatives for Swift and Gomez did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
