Eva Mendes opened up about her step back from acting after having kids with longtime partner Ryan Gosling and made it clear she was more than happy to leave the spotlight.

Mendes, whose last credited on-screen role was in Gosling's 2014 feature directorial debut "Lost River," said in an interview on the "Today" show Tuesday that the decision to become a full-time mom was a "no-brainer."

"I'm so lucky, and I was like, if I can have this time with my children — and I still work, I just didn't act because acting takes you on locations, it takes you away," Mendes said.

"It was almost like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, OK, he's gonna work and I'm gonna work. I'm just gonna work here," she added.

Gosling and Mendes, who famously don't walk red carpets or go to public events together, have been together since 2011 and have two daughters together, born in 2014 and 2016.

Elsewhere in the interview, Mendes spoke about first meeting Gosling on the set of the 2012 crime thriller "The Place Beyond the Pines" and raved about his work ethic.

"I've never experienced anything like that," she said. "The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it can be — and that means making his costars as best as they can be."

"I pretty much stopped acting after that," Mendes added.

Now, Mendes, who made headlines for her supportive post about Gosling's "I'm Just Ken" Oscars performance, is happy to support Gosling's acting career and continues to sing his praises.

"He went, and he did his job. He just happens to be really good at his job," she said. "And he did it, and he came home."

Mendes has spoken about whether she'd return to acting in the past. Appearing on "The View" in 2022, she said she wasn't ruling out an on-screen return but that she has "such a short list of what I will do."

"Before kids, I kinda was up for anything," Mendes said. "I mean, if it was a fun project. But now, I don't want to do violence, I don't want to do sexuality. The list is short."

She added that she hopes fans will see her again on-screen and that it would have to be a "nice and clean" role.

Mendes' last credited role was in the kids' animated show "Bluey," where she voiced a yoga instructor in a 2021 episode.
