Dwayne Johnson says his super pale wax figure is getting a skin color fix
- Dwayne Johnson says he's going to fix his wax figure at France's Grévin Museum.
- The figure had been slammed for seemingly whitewashing the star, by giving it a pale complexion.
Dwayne Johnson says he's going to fix the new wax figure of himself that's gotten flak for its poor resemblance to him.
"For the record, I'm going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grévin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at 'updating' my wax figure here with some important details and improvements — starting with my skin color," Johnson said in an Instagram post published on Sunday.
"And next time I'm in Paris, I'll stop in and have a drink with myself," Johnson continued.
Johnson's Instagram post attached a video of comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr. roasting the figure's creators for whitewashing Johnson's wax statue.
"You make 'The Rock' look like he David Beckham. It look like the 'The Rock' about to be a part of the royal family. I'm low-key offended," Jefferson Jr. said in his video.
On Monday, the Grévin Museum said in an Instagram Story that its "artists are already working on improving the waxwork of Dwayne Johnson."
According to the museum's website, the sculptor Stéphane Barret had to construct the figure based solely on photographs and videos of Johnson. Barret said they were "lucky enough to find someone who physically matched Dwayne Johnson's build and height" as a reference when they were making the figure.
Representatives for Johnson and Grévin Museum did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours.
