- Drew Barrymore says Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have inspired her to date again.
- Barrymore, who has been married thrice, says she has been happily single for the past seven years.
Drew Barrymore says the new relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has convinced her to start dating again.
"I just want to say for me personally, I have been single for seven years, happily. Seeing her on that first date, out there in the box with his family, I really had a very big Oprah 'aha' moment," Barrymore said on Monday's episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show."
The "Charlie's Angels" actress was referring to Swift's appearance at a football game in September when Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs, played the Chicago Bears.
Barrymore told her show's guest, Gwyneth Paltrow, that watching Swift and Kelce prompted her to bring a date to an upcoming wedding. Barrymore did not specify who her date was.
"I invited him to a wedding next weekend. And he said, 'Wow, after three-and-a-half years, you're going to invite me to a wedding?'" Barrymore told Paltrow.
"I was like, something about Taylor Swift going out and just dating like a normal person and not being a dark horse about it. I was like, 'I overthink everything. I should just go on a date. What's wrong with me?'" she continued.
Swift has attended four of Kelce's football games since rumors about them started swirling last month.
Swift and Kelce now appear to have hard-launched their new pairing, and have been spotted holding hands on multiple occasions. The pop star was also seen kissing Kelce on the cheek in a Monday Instagram post from Chariah Gordon, who's dating Kelce's teammate, Mecole Hardman.
Barrymore, for her part, has been married three times, first to Los Angeles bar owner Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995, then to comedian Tom Green from 2001 to 2002, and lastly to art consultant Will Kopelman from 2012 to 2016. She has two daughters with Kopelman.
Barrymore previously wrote in an October 2022 blog post that after her divorce, having "a relationship with a man has not been top of mind."
"I needed to stay very celibate and honoring and in some sort of state of mourning of the loss of a nuclear family that I swore I would have for my daughters and to find grace and acceptance and what our new normal of a blended family would be," Barrymore wrote.
"I have just simply come to laugh about the fact that it is not my personal priority to be with a partner, but that doesn't mean it won't become one someday. I need time," she said later in her post.
Representatives for Barrymore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours.
