Doja Cat has deleted an Instagram post debuting the cover art for her fourth studio album, "Scarlet," after fans noticed that it looks almost identical to the artwork for another album which is being released on the same day.

Doja shared the Instagram post on Tuesday to reveal the cover art for "Scarlet," and confirmed the project will drop on September 22.

The artwork features a large scarlet spider placed upon a plain white background, with a small blood drop above its fangs.

People on social media, however, were quick to point out that the art for "Scarlet" bears striking similarities to that of an upcoming album by German metal band Chaver.

"why does doja cat's album cover almost exactly match a metal band's album art they posted a exactly month before she posted today and they both have the same release date but only doja's instagram has the artist showing support in the comments," wrote one person, posting both album covers side by side.

Chaver shared an Instagram post on July 29 to announce their latest album, "Of Gloom," and share the artwork, which, like Doja's, features a large scarlet spider.

Chaver also revealed in their post that "Of Gloom" will be released on September 22, the same day as "Scarlet."

The band has since been posting regularly about the album, including sharing merchandise that features the spider design on it.

The artist behind the cover art

Both Doja and Chaver tagged painter Dusty Ray as the artist behind their artwork in their respective announcements.

Dusty Ray, who is from Portland, Oregon, originally commented under Doja's now-deleted post on Tuesday, per screenshots shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Ray commented: "yesss ❤️❤️."

Ray, who has over 413,000 Instagram followers, often shares their work to their feed, much of which is horror-themed, features animals, and uses a scarlet and red palette.

Doja deletes post

As of Thursday, Doja has removed the announcement debuting the cover art for "Scarlet" from her Instagram.

Chaver's announcement from July 29, however, remains present on its Instagram page, as do all of the band's other posts about "Of Gloom" and its artwork.

Representatives for Doja, Chaver, and Dusty Ray did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
