It plans to expand the option to international markets in 2023. Pricing and launch-date details will be announced a later date.
Disney+ currently costs $7.99 per month without ads. The service had 129.8 million subscribers by the end of 2021, adding 11.8 million new subscribers in Q4.
Some of Disney+'s streaming rivals also offer ad-supported options. WarnerMedia's HBO Max introduced an ad-supported version last year for $9.99, while the ad-free version costs $14.99. Peacock and Paramount+ offer ad-supported versions, as well.
Disney already offers a bundle with Disney+, ESPN+, and the ad-supported Hulu for $13.99 per month. A version of the bundle that includes the ad-free Hulu costs $19.99 per month.
