After a break of 8 years, the music show Coke Studio is returning to India as Coke Studio Bharat. “This is Apna Sunao - the story of India told through unique India voices,” shared Coke Studio India on YouTube. Coke Studio is the musical property of beverage maker Coca-Cola.

Singer-songwriter Ankur Tewari, known for his work on Gully Boy, joined hands with acclaimed lyricist and screenwriter Kausar Munir (lyricist - Qala, Gehraiyaan, Pad Man, etc.) and music producer KJ Singh to curate artists and create tracks for this season.

Reports stated that the season will feature 50 artists from across the country. Together, they will create over 10 tracks that celebrate “the roots of India”. The season will also put the spotlight on regional Indian instruments like Algozha, Chimta, Duff, Sarod, Sarangi, Tumbi, and Rabaab.

The season will feature an eclectic mix of celebrated artists - producer-singer duo OAFF and Savera who shot to fame with the Gehraiyaan soundtrack, rappers Seedhe Maut and Prabh Deep, popular Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh who’s performing at Coachella this year, Din Shagna Da singer Jasleen Royal, and many others.

Arnab Roy, vice president, marketing Coca-Cola India, and Southwest Asia said: "Coke Studio Bharat connects the truly distinct cultural dots of various regions in the country with artists whose music is defined by their roots. They are the real stars of the season, giving regional music a bigger impetus."

The debut track of Coke Studio Bharat Season 1 is titled Udja and features artists OAFF, Savera, Jasleen Royal and Burrah. It will release on February 7. On Instagram, Coke Studio shared that Udja “will speak to those who wear their hearts on their sleeves.”

Coke Studio Bharat will be available on YouTube, as well as platforms like Spotify, Gaana, Saavn, Wynk Music, and Audible worldwide.

Earlier this year in January, Coke Studio announced the launch of its first-ever Tamil edition. The first song from Coke Studio Tamil, Sagavaasi, released on February 1 and has already gone viral. The track, which racked up 5.7 million views on YouTube, is composed by Arivu and sung by Arivu and Khatija Rahman (AR Rahman’s daughter).

While nowhere as popular as Coke Studio Pakistan, Coke Studio India delivered a few memorable tracks in its 4-season-long run, such as Madari, Rangabati, Chaudhary, Katte and more.
