Chrissy Teigen can't stop wearing the 'no pants' trend in New York City during the winter
- Chrissy Teigen and John Legend visited Polo Bar in New York City on Thursday night.
- Despite cold temperatures, the model wore the "no pants" trend via shorts and fishnet tights.
It's cold in New York City, but that won't stop Chrissy Teigen from being fashionable.
The model and mom of four stepped out in New York City on Thursday wearing a barely-there ensemble to celebrate her husband John Legend's birthday.
She sported a black blouse with sheer sleeves tucked into lace-up shorts, as well as fishnet tights and sandal heels.
Legend, on the other hand, wore a black suit with a silk shirt left unbuttoned underneath.
Temperatures dropped below 50 degrees Fahrenheit in New York on Thursday when Teigen wore the summer-ready outfit.
And as it turns out, the outfit was at least her second take on the "no pants" trend during her recent East Coast trip.
On Christmas Day, Teigen shared a series of photos and videos to Instagram with the caption, "New York Christmas was the best idea."
In one of the post's videos, the "Cravings" author is seen wearing a black leather trench coat over what appears to be nothing but gray underwear and sheer tights.
"Aren't you cold?" someone asked Teigen in the clip.
"No! I have earmuffs and gloves," the model replied, referencing her mesh hand coverings and fuzzy earmuffs.
The "no pants" trend has been popular among celebrities for years.
Miley Cyrus wore the style to the Billboard Music Awards in 2012, Kourtney Kardashian reignited the look in 2017, and everyone from Hailey Bieber to Blake Lively ditched their pants the following year.
At the time, the trend typically involved wearing an oversized blazer or T-shirt as a minidress.
But more recently, the style has evolved.
Kylie Jenner attended Paris Fashion Week in 2022 while wearing underwear in place of pants, and Bella Hadid did the same that year while walking around New York City.
Miu Miu then approved the trend evolution this year when it sent models down its fall/winter runway show wearing sparkling underwear.
So if you thought underwear as outerwear was going anywhere in the new year, think again.
As Teigen has proved, this style is likely just getting started.
