Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have seen a lot on-screen over the years, but when they watch "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," they'll witness something new when Chris Pratt drops the first F-bomb in the history of the MCU.

As Pratt revealed during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" this week, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had a discussion with director James Gunn about whether to keep the word in the film.

"From my understanding, the story goes that Kevin Feige talked to James Gunn and said, 'Listen, you don't want to be the guy who's known for having the first F-word in your movie,'" Pratt recalled. "And James was like, 'Yes, I do! Don't you know me? That's exactly what I want.' And so they kept it in."

Pratt, for his part, acknowledged this isn't the first time an actor has tried to sneak profanity into a Marvel film.

"I think everybody's tried, you know?" he added. "With a PG-13 movie, you typically get two s-h-words and, usually you don't get any, maybe you can get one F-word. So everyone's always lobbying, you know, like throwing out an improv to try to get it in there."

"It's not the first one I've tried to get into the movie," Pratt continued. "But yeah, they edited it together and it was a funny beat and so they kept it."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" hits theaters on May 5. Read our review here.
