- Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe told BI she can't stand the baggy pants that Gen Z loves.
- Zoe said her son recently asked her to buy him jeans that were "six sizes too big," and she refused.
If there's one Gen Z trend that Rachel Zoe can't stand, it's baggy pants.
The legendary stylist — who counts Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz, and Jennifer Garner among her A-list clients — spoke with Business Insider on the red carpet at Time's "Women of the Year" gala in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
And she was happy to share her thoughts on the trends dominating TikTok.
"This whole baggy jean thing, I don't love it," Zoe said. "It's like, why hide yourself?"
"My son begged me to buy him these jeans that were literally six sizes too big, and I was like, 'Absolutely not,'" she added with a laugh. "I can't support it."
Unlike the skinny jeans that define millennial fashion, Gen Z favors bold and baggy pants.
If you want to be more on trend but, like Zoe, can't stand oversize denim, fashion creator Krista Lavrusik gave BI some helpful tips.
The 37-year-old, who calls herself a millennial mom with Gen Z style, recommended trying high-waisted, wide-leg jeans instead.
"They're longer; it hits you where you can still wear your booties," she said. "And you can still wear that same sweater, but tuck it in and then belt it."
We also asked Zoe about some recent red-carpet trends, and she isn't a fan of pairing socks with high heels — which has been spotted on stars including Sydney Sweeney and Charlize Theron.
But Zoe has been loving the "mob wife" trend, which embraces bold and dramatic fashion like fur coats, animal print, and red lipstick.
"I think it's hilarious because I'm pretty sure I've been dressing like a mob wife my entire life," Zoe said. "I just recently saw a picture of myself at 13, and I was in lamé and faux fur."
"You are who you are," she added. "I think it's funny it has a trend now."
