Candace Cameron Bure hits back at accusations she's lying about her fast-food habits
- Candace Cameron Bure maintains that the only fast food she's eaten in 20 years is In-N-Out.
- Her rep told Insider Bure "only ordered an iced tea" during a Chick-Fil-A trip with her son in 2012.
Candace Cameron Bure is setting the record straight about her fast-food eating habits, maintaining her claim that she hasn't eaten fast food other than the west coast chain In-N-Out Burger in 20 years, despite a 2012 picture featuring her and one of her two sons with Chick-fil-A.
In an email statement to Insider, a representative for Bure said that internet sleuths who think they dug up proof that she's lying are mistaken.
"Candace told me that she drove her son to get food at Chick-fil-A and she only ordered an iced tea for herself. Candace is only holding a cup," the representative wrote in an emailed statement, also calling the stories circulating online about her lying "untrue" and "ridiculous."
Buzzfeed and Page Six captured a recent Instagram story in which Bure wrote that she hasn't eaten fast food, except In-N-Out Burger, in 20 years.
"Some days I wonder what a burger and fries is like from McDonald's or Burger King or Wendy's or any of those other places I've never eaten at," she wrote, adding in a follow-up story that she's also never eaten Taco Bell.
"I don't regret it. You can't convince me otherwise," she concluded.
Then, internet sleuths found a now-deleted 2012 Instagram post, featuring a picture in which the "Full House" star said she'd recently been to Chick-fil-A with her son. "We love chikin!" she wrote in a caption that she also shared to Twitter.
Bure has been making headlines over the past year for other, more serious controversies.
In July 2022, dancer and social-media star JoJo Siwa posted a since-deleted TikTok suggesting that Bure was the "rudest" celebrity she'd ever met. In the fallout that ensued, the two celebrities shared different memories of a red-carpet encounter at the premiere of "Fuller House" in 2016, when Siwa would've been about 12 years old.
Then, in November 2022, Bure made headlines again for telling the Wall Street Journal she thinks her new network Great American Family will stick to telling stories about "traditional marriage," implying that it wouldn't be featuring LGBTQ love stories in its TV movies.
Bure received public criticism from many celebrities for the comment, including Siwa, who said she didn't think she'd speak to Bure "ever again" after Bure's exclusionary remark.
A few months later, Bure shared her thoughts on "cancel culture" on a February 2023 episode of the "Unapologetic" podcast hosted by Julia Jeffress Sadler.
Asked by Sadler to share advice for young people who are scared to mention their Christian beliefs for fear of being "persecuted," the "Fuller House" star said, "It's hard no matter what. Especially when you are a compassionate person and you have a heart for people."
"But it's important that we speak truth, but in love," she continued. Bure added that people tend not to listen to others when they are "angry" while sharing their beliefs. "But, it's important that we don't back down," she said.
