Britney Spears has detailed the brief fling she had with Colin Farrell in the early 2000s in her upcoming memoir, "The Woman In Me."
Recalling the short-lived romance that came shortly after her very public split from Justin Timberlake and a year before she married Kevin Federline, Spears apparently described it as "a two-week brawl."
"Brawl is the only word for it," Time quoted from Spears' book after it obtained an early copy.
"We were all over each other, grappling so passionately it was like we were in a street fight," continues the quote from the singer.
Spears was apparently first introduced to the Irish star through a "club promoter friend," and after connecting, visited him on the set of the action-thriller "S.W.A.T."
Spears also accompanied the actor to the premiere of his 2003 movie "The Recruit," where they were photographed together smiling and laughing as Farrell draped his arm around her shoulder. She wrote that it was there she realized that she was still hung up on her ex, Time reported.
The outlet reported that even though Spears said she was aware that Timberlake had slept with "six or seven girls" in the weeks after they "officially" ended their relationship in 2002, she also wrote: "He was a girl's dream. I was in love with him."
"As I had before when I'd felt too attached to a man, I tried to convince myself in every way that it was not a big deal. That we were just having fun, that in this case, I was vulnerable because I wasn't over Justin yet," Time quoted from Spears' book.
It also quoted the Grammy winner writing that "for a brief moment in time, I did think there could be something there" between her and the "Banshees of Inisherin" star, but the pair ultimately didn't work out.
"The disappointments in my romantic life were just one part of how isolated I became. I felt so awkward all the time," Time quoted from the memoir.
For his part, Farrell told reporters on the red carpet that their relationship was purely casual.
"We're not dating. She's a sweet, sweet girl. There's nothing going on — just mates," he told Entertainment Weekly at the time.
Later that year, Spears also discussed their fling and likewise told W Magazine that "it was nothing serious."
"Yes, I kissed him," People quoted her telling the magazine. "He's the cutest, hottest thing in the world — wooh!"
Representatives for Farrell did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.
