Brad Pitt has been awarded more custody of his children with Angelina Jolie, a source told Insider.
According to the source, whose identity is known to Insider but is being withheld due to the nature of the information, a private judge hired by Jolie and Pitt made the decision to award Pitt more custody after months of witness testimony.
Jolie plans to continue the legal fight, a different source told Page Six.
"Pitt has always been seeking the opportunity to have more time with his children and prioritized their well being while the other side did everything to try and stop that," a source familiar with the situation told Insider Wednesday.
"The decision was based on extensive testimony from people who spent time with the kids and by highly respected professional evaluators," they added.
According to the source, the judge found Jolie's testimony "lacked credibility."
Representatives for Jolie did not immediately return Insider's request for comment Wednesday.
The former couple has been engaged in a years-long legal battle since Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.
Together, Pitt and Jolie have six children - Maddox, Zahara Marley, Pax, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox - three adopted and three biological children, respectively. Still, 19-year-old Maddox isn't part of the custody case any longer due to his age.
At the time, Jolie's decision to file for divorce was reportedly because she was "extremely upset" with Brad's parenting style. Insider reported that Jolie cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the filing.
Jolie accused Pitt of child abuse in 2016 regarding an alleged incident on a private jet that occurred between Pitt and Maddox, the eldest adopted child of the former couple.
The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services began the investigation into the allegations. Insider previously reported that since the incident allegedly occurred on a flight from France to the US, jurisdiction landed with the FBI and the case was transferred.
In November 2016, the FBI cleared Pitt of child abuse allegations.
"In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation. No charges have been filed in this matter," the agency said in a statement to press at the time.
Last year, the "Eternals" actress told Vogue she "separated for the wellbeing of my family," adding that "it was the right decision."
In March, Jolie filed court documents accusing Pitt of incidents of alleged domestic violence in their ongoing legal battle. The filing, according to Us Weekly, said Jolie and her children were willing to give "proof and authority in support" of their claims.
A source later told Entertainment Tonight that Pitt was "heartbroken" by Jolie's claims of domestic violence.
"He just wants to spend time with his children and move in a positive direction. His priority has always been his relationship with his children," the source told ET.
