  • The film gives an intimate look at Eilish's relationship with rapper 7: AMP, whom she calls "Q."
  • Neither had ever confirmed they were dating. Eilish broke up with him in June 2019.

Billie Eilish's documentary gives fans their first close look at her relationship with Brandon Quention Adams, a songwriter and rapper who records as 7: AMP, though Eilish calls him "Q."

"Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry," hitting Apple TV+ on Friday, chronicles Eilish's breakneck rise to stardom from "Ocean Eyes" virality in 2016 to the 2020 Grammy Awards.

Adams first appears in footage from late 2018, when Eilish was 16. Following a clip of her radio interview with KROQ's "Kevin and Bean" - when she said any boyfriend wouldn't compare to her childhood love for Justin Bieber - Eilish is shown hugging Adams and saying he looks "good as hell."

Throughout the documentary, she can also be seen holding hands with him at her 17th birthday party and professing her love for him over the phone.

The film shows Eilish getting increasingly frustrated with her demanding tour schedule and his distant behavior

While backstage at her February 2019 concert in Paris, Eilish said that she felt "lonely" and "miserable" on Valentine's Day.

"Q doesn't do anything?" asked a member of her team.

"Haven't gotten anything," Eilish replied. "And the night before, he'd been really weird and distant and s---."

"It was totally fine, we've been great," she continued. "But then they had this plan to go to Big Bear [Lake in California], like the whole squad was gonna go to Big Bear. I was just like, 'You know what, have fun, don't worry about me, I'm miserable, and I miss you, and I wish you would talk to me, and I have no one else to talk to.'"

Two months later, she lamented his absence during preparations for her 2019 Coachella performance.

"I said, 'I'm getting you tickets for this, and the deal is that you have to spend time with me. You have to see me if I'm going to let you come for free,'" she told her brother, Finneas O'Connell. "Haven't seen him in two and a half days."

Adams did eventually appear in her dressing room, where Eilish serenaded him with her song "Xanny."

After her set, which was widely praised by critics and fans alike, Eilish didn't seem pleased with her performance. She spoke to Adams on the phone and asked if he could come see her, to which he apparently replied, "I'll try."

After hanging up, she threw her phone on the ground.

About halfway through the film, Eilish tells a friend that Adams broke his hand by punching a wall

"I'm trying to get him to go to therapy," she said to her childhood friend Zoe. "He's so self-destructive."

After Eilish got her driver's license, she went straight to the studio to see Adams "and his broken hand."

Shortly after, however, she's shown writing a song with Finneas about a failing relationship.

"When I'm away from you / I'm happier than ever / Wish I could explain it better / Wish it wasn't true," they sang.

In the very next scene, backstage at her June 2019 concert in New York City, Eilish explained why she'd recently broken up with Adams.

"I just wasn't happy. And I didn't want the same things he wanted and I don't think that's fair, for him," she said. "I don't think you should be in a relationship, super excited about certain things that the other person couldn't care less about."

"And there was just a lack of effort, I think. I literally was just like, 'Dude, you don't even have enough love to love yourself, you can't love me. And you don't. Like, you think you do.'"

"I do love him, though, which is what made it harder," she added. "'Cause I'm not over him. I didn't find someone else. I didn't stop having love for him. I just, like, spent time away from him for a little bit and I was like, 'Wow. I'm missing so much because I'm worried about you all the time.'"

Eilish cried that night while performing "I Love You," a stirring heartbreak ballad from her 2019 album.

Fans have long been aware of her friendship with Adams, though neither ever confirmed they were dating

Eilish was featured on the cover for his debut project, 2019's "Bleaupro," as well as various promotional photos, which fueled romance rumors within her fandom.

Adams also posted several photos of Eilish on Instagram, where his username was @mtvsevenamp. He apparently deactivated his account on Tuesday.

The pair may remain on good terms

After their breakup, Adams posted a photo of Eilish in December 2019, wishing her a happy birthday.

However, Eilish told GQ in 2020 that she has never felt "desired" in a relationship.

"My past boyfriends never made me feel desired. None of them," Eilish said. "And it's a big thing in my life that I feel I have never been physically desired by somebody."

She also told Capital Breakfast's Roman Kemp that she regrets allowing public glimpses of her dating life.

"I mean, like, I've had relationships and kept them private," Eilish said during a remote appearance on the radio show in September. "And even the ones that I've had, and like, the tiny amount that I've let the world see, I regret."

"And it's like, what if it goes bad? And then everybody has this whole opinion on your relationship that they have no idea about. So it's very much not something I'm interested in."
