An image of actress Elizabeth Debicki dressed as Princess Diana for Season 5 of "The Crown" spiked searches for dresses similar to the princess's iconic "revenge dress" by 108% within a day of the photo's release, according to data from the shopping platform Lyst.
The off-the-shoulder black dress with a sweetheart neckline and black trail was dubbed the "revenge dress" by the media because Princess Diana wore it to a dinner the same night that her husband, Prince Charles, publicly admitted to cheating on her.
Her fashion choice of a more risqué dress dominated headlines the next day, even surpassing coverage of her husband's affair, according to The Independent.
Countless online shops offer versions of the dress, with some retailing for as little as $44 or as much as $180.
"The Crown" has also inspired countless other recreations of Princess Diana's famous looks, like puff-sleeve tops and and broad-shouldered blazers.
