Amy Schumer shares the controversial Alec Baldwin 'Rust' shooting joke she wasn't allowed to make at the Oscars

Amy Schumer said she wasn't allowed to make a joke about the "Rust" shooting during the Oscars last month, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

At a stand-up-comedy show Saturday in Las Vegas that The Hollywood Reporter covered, Schumer said her lawyer advised her not to say a list of jokes at the 94th Academy Awards, which she cohosted with Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall.

"I want to preface these Oscar jokes by saying that my lawyer said not to say these. Don't tell anybody, and don't get mad at me," she said before running through the jokes for a live crowd, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"'Don't Look Up' is the name of a movie? More like don't look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin's shotgun," Schumer said, according to the magazine. "I wasn't allowed to say any of that, but you can just come up and [clock] someone."

Schumer was referring to an incident on the set of the movie "Rust" last year, when Baldwin fired a gun that he didn't know contained live ammo while rehearsing a scene, killing the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring the director Joel Souza.

Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on the Oscars stage after the comedian made a joke about the bald head of Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Pinkett Smith was diagnosed with alopecia, a hair-loss condition, and has been open about how it's affected her.

"It was just a fucking bummer," Schumer said of the slapping incident, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "All I can say is that it was really sad, and I think it says so much about toxic masculinity."

Insider previously reported the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences launched a formal investigation after the slapping incident and later sent a letter to its members saying its leadership was "upset and outraged."

Smith resigned from the academy on Friday. The actor, who also took home the best-actor trophy during the awards ceremony, apologized to Rock, the academy, his fellow nominees, and the Williams family, whose story he helped portray in "King Richard."

Meanwhile, Rock hasn't spoken publicly about the incident, mentioning in a stand-up comedy show in Boston only that he's "still processing" what happened to him at the Oscars.

"So at some point, I'll talk about that shit," he said last week. "It'll be serious. It'll be funny, but right now, I'm going to tell some jokes."
