ABC has revealed the contestants who will appear on the upcoming season of "The Golden Bachelor," and in keeping with the show's theme as a love story "for the golden years," none of the women are below the age of 60.
EW first shared the news about the women cast on the new season, and included the photos, ages, and a brief bio about each one.
The latest spinoff of the "Bachelor" franchise will follow 71-year-old Gerry Turner, a "hopeless romantic" who's been "given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life," according to ABC's description in Variety.
"The women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities," the description continues.
Here's everything you need to know about "The Golden Bachelor."
'The Golden Bachelor' cast won't feature any women younger than 60
Like other groups of contestants in the franchise, the women set to appear on Turner's season hail from all over the country (from small towns in Tennessee to New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago), and have a wide range of professions, though a fair amount are retired, per EW's report.
Unlike past seasons, however, all of the women are between the ages of 60 and 75. It seems a fair amount also have children and grandchildren, and were previously married for long periods of time.
ABC also released a short video showcasing some of the women from Turner's season, set to Cher's hit song "Believe."
In an August interview with Variety, Turner revealed that he gave the producers an ideal age range, but other than that, didn't have much say in the casting process.
"I think I said 60 to 70, but feel free to blur the lines," Turner told Variety of the age range he gave producers for his season of the show. He also said in the same interview that he told producers he was also looking for women who enjoyed physical activity, such as golf or pickleball, much like himself.
The show's Instagram page gave fans a sneak peek at what to expect from Turner's season in August as well, posting a photo of two people, who appear to be Turner and an unidentified woman, riding on a four-wheeler together.
"Just when you thought Gerry couldn't get any cooler..." the caption read.
Turner was revealed as the lead on "Good Morning America" in July. According to ABC, the 71-year-old widower is a "retired restaurateur and doting father and grandfather" who currently lives in Indiana. Turner's hobbies include pickleball, hosting barbecues, four-wheeling, trying new restaurants, and watching Chicago sports teams.
Turner lost his first wife, Toni, to a sudden illness in 2017. The two were high school sweethearts who married in 1974, and had two daughters together.
Turner's family, including his two granddaughters, support his new occupation as the Golden Bachelor.
'The Golden Bachelor' teasers promise a whole new spin on the popular 'Bachelor' setup
A teaser trailer for the upcoming series playfully highlights Turner's age (with jokes about him actually picking up the phone when someone calls him, and putting "postage" on his "DMs") while also showing off the 71-year-old's style.
In the July interview with Turner on "Good Morning America," he got candid about how his late wife Toni would feel about his new role as the Golden Bachelor. Spoiler: Turner thinks Toni is definitely "rooting" for him in his new endeavors.
Another teaser, released by ABC in August, shows Turner, two of his daughters, and a granddaughter discussing the septuagenarian's approach to dating on the upcoming show. The family jokingly urges Turner to stop signing his texts like he would a letter, but Turner gets serious when speaking about what he hopes to gain from the experience.
The show will air on Thursdays this fall
The septuagenarian-friendly dating show joins "The Bachelor," "The Bachelorette," and "Bachelor in Paradise" as the latest entry in the ever-growing franchise. ABC announced that the show will air from 8 to 9 p.m. ET on Thursdays starting September 28, followed by the new season of "Bachelor in Paradise" from 9 to 11 p.m. ET.
