A long-standing fan theory connecting the 'Home Alone' house to 'Friends' has been confirmed
- Eagle-eyed fans have long thought the "Home Alone" house and a home featured in "Friends" are the same.
- A "Friends" art director confirmed Monica and Chandler's season 10 home shares the same backdrop as the McCallister house.
Chandler and Monica really did move into the McCallister home from "Home Alone."
Sort of.
For years, some eagle-eyed "Friends" fans thought the home Chandler and Monica move into on the show's final season shared some similarities with the iconic "Home Alone" house.
The theory goes back to 2016 when production company 22 Vision posted a video to YouTube showing that the views from the windows of Chandler and Monica's season 10, episode 14 home match those seen from the McCallister home.
A garage that matches one across the street from the McCallisters' is also opposite Monica and Chandler's home. Additionally, a distinct house with a wreath on the front door can also be spotted from both homes.
Now, "Friends" art director Daren Janes responded to a viral Instagram post that's recirculating the theory.
"You caught me," Janes wrote. "I was the Art Director on 'Friends' & the house was a set. The actors walked in the front door, so we saw outside. We used the backing from a company called Pacific Studios which was made for Home Alone because it looked the best through the door & windows. Great eye my friend!!!!"
So even though it appears the houses could be the same, the two just share the same backdrop.
The real McCallister home is located in Illinois while Chandler and Monica moved to the suburbs in New York.
Still, it's fun to know the two share an unlikely connection that no one likely intended to be discovered.
