  • Anya Taylor-Joy is widely known for her acting, but she's also a standout fashion star.
  • The 28-year-old has worn a mix of gowns, minidresses, and two-piece sets this year.

No one does fashion quite like Anya Taylor-Joy.

Whether attending major red carpets or promoting her latest film at the Cannes Film Festival, the 28-year-old actor will almost always arrive in daring style.

This year alone, she's worn standout ensembles, including a veil covering her head, a pantsuit that sparkled in the light, and a dress that showed most of her backside.

Here are her best outfits of the year and a few looks that missed the mark.

Anya Taylor-Joy perfectly translated the "Dune: Part Two" aesthetic into an outfit at the film's London premiere.

She wore a custom Dior ensemble, including a semi-sheer veil that covered her head and torso and extended to the floor behind her.

And when she removed the piece after posing for photographers, you could see the white gown she wore beneath it.

The designer dress had a pleated skirt and a dramatic neckline shaped like a squared V that dipped to her stomach.

But her attempt to make Dior look business-casual didn't work.

In February, Taylor-Joy attended a Dior event in Beverly Hills while wearing a two-piece set from the fashion house.

It included tan trousers that shimmered in the light and an off-the-shoulder corset made from sparkling fabric.

But while the outfit looked chic, its light color washed her out, and its simple design wasn't memorable. Simply swapping her pants for similar ones in a darker color could have improved the look.

One of her first daring looks of the year came in February when she wore a metallic bralette at a British Vogue and Tiffany & Co. event.

Fendi designed her two-piece outfit, which included a halter top and a high-waisted satin skirt in a cream shade.

But she also nailed her accessories. Taylor-Joy completed her outfit with cream-colored pumps, a statement diamond necklace, and a mix of rings and a bracelet from Tiffany & Co.

But her next one wasn't as strong.

She attended the New York City premiere of "Dune: Part Two" wearing a Maison Margiela gown.

It had a gold layer that hugged her body beneath a black mesh overlay with a ruched bodice and full skirt.

The outfit had potential but could have used some tweaks. Taylor-Joy either should have worn only the gold layer without the mesh on top or the full outfit as it was displayed on the designer runway, with vibrant accessories and dramatic makeup.

Taylor-Joy's re-creation of a famous Dior design for the Oscars was stunning.

She arrived at the awards ceremony wearing a sparkling gown inspired by Dior's famous Junon dress, designed in 1949.

Taylor-Joy's version was strapless with a corset bodice and a straight skirt covered in beaded petals.

And somehow, she made the outfit even more stunning with an assortment of diamond Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

Miss Sohee designed her custom black minidress. It was crafted from velvet and featured long sleeves, sharp shoulder pads, and a scooped neckline highlighting its mesh bralette.

The dress was also embellished with crystal appliqué that matched her sparkling cap.

Taylor-Joy completed the outfit with sheer black tights and tall pumps.

She walked the red carpet wearing a gold set straight off Paco Rabanne's 1996 runway. It included a gold-and-silver chainmail dress decorated with the same arrow-style spikes covering her headpiece.

The dress was also see-through and showed her skin as she posed for photographers.

The outfit was unique, memorable, and perfectly matched the vibe of her latest film.

But her dress and accessories didn't match at a Tiffany & Co. event in April.

She walked the blue carpet wearing a Hamda Al Fahim gown crafted from brown velvet. It had a strapless corset top, ruching at the waist, and a long skirt with a short train.

Though the dress was pretty, it didn't match the silver and pink jewels — a diamond and spinel necklace and earring set from Tiffany & Co — that she also wore.

A different, lighter gown would have suited the accessories better.

While promoting "Furiosa," Taylor-Joy sported a structured minidress from Balmain.

It was silver and seemingly made with metal, from its short skirt to the 3D roses that lined her shoulders.

She wore the dress with see-through sandals, an updo hairstyle, and red lipstick.

But she also missed the mark with one outfit during the same press tour stop.

For another "Furiousa" event, Taylor-Joy wore a black strapless bra beneath a white shoulder piece with long sleeves. The outerwear was dramatic in shape and adorned with rings and straps that hung across her body.

More of those pieces were also attached to Taylor-Joy's white skirt, which had a zipper in the middle and sat above her knees.

Though white is a strong color for the actor, the straps on this outfit distracted from the overall look and didn't make much sense.

Jil Sander designed her knit ensemble, which included a cropped, long-sleeved jacket with fringe detailing, a mid-rise skirt that dipped below her knees, and a white cap embellished with beaded strings.

The outfit was elegant enough to suit Cannes while also being unique to fit Taylor-Joy's standout style — making it the perfect outfit choice for the actor.

But the gown she wore to her movie's Cannes screening was underwhelming.

She walked the "Furiosa" red carpet in a custom Dior gown. It had a strapless, structured bodice atop a full skirt, and its fabric had a slight shimmer.

Though the dress was pretty, it was also arguably too simple for a star who regularly makes daring fashion choices. Her Tiffany & Co. jewelry also looked a bit stark compared to the lightly hued gown.

One of Taylor-Joy's best looks of the year showed much of her backside.

She was photographed in New York City wearing a red Mugler minidress, which looked almost like leather molded to her body.

But it wasn't just daring from the front. When she turned around, you could see that the piece was held together with black strings stretching across her back and showing her skin.

Taylor-Joy accessorized the bold look with red pumps and a thick silver cuff.
