Disney Channel's "Halloweentown" premiered in 1998 and was the first in a series of four movies.
The film makes real-world references to the Egyptian "Book of the Dead" and Shakespeare's "Macbeth."
There is one mystery creature that is still not referenced in the cast list.
Ever since its premiere in 1998, "Halloweentown" earned its spot in the Disney Halloween-movie canon. Disney later released three sequels to the original film, closing the series with "Return to Halloweentown" in 2006.
