17 couples competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics

- Love has been well and truly in the air at the Paris Olympics.
- There have been multiple proposals at this year's Games.
Love is truly in the air at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, with a number of couples taking part in the Games.
From Hunter Woodhall and Tara Davis-Woodhall to Lee Kiefer and Gerek Meinhardt, here are the couples competing in the City of Love.
Chinese badminton players Liu Yuchen and Huang Ya Qiong got engaged at the Games.
Shortly after Huang won a gold medal in the badminton mixed doubles, Liu got down on one knee and popped the question.
Liu is also an Olympic medal-winning member of China's badminton team, having won silver at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
"For me, the proposal is very surprising because I have been preparing for the game," Huang told the Associated Press via an interpreter. "Today I am an Olympic champion and I got proposed, so that's something I didn't expect."
Argentinian athletes Pablo Simonet and Maria Campoy also gort engaged in Paris.
Tennis players and couple Katie Boulter and Alex De Minaur both made their Olympic debuts this year.
Boulter, who plays for Great Britain, and Australia's De Minaur previously played mixed doubles together at Wimbledon in 2023.
The couple have been together since 2020, celebrating their four-year anniversary in March.
German soccer player Lea Schüller competed at the Olympics for the first time this year alongside her partner, Austrian sailor Lara Vadlau.
Ukrainian athlete Elina Svitolina and her husband, France's Gaël Monfils, both competed in tennis.
The couple, who have been together since around 2019, married in 2021.
They welcomed their daughter, Skai, in October 2022, making this their first Olympic games as parents.
Track and field stars Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall are both representing Team USA.
The couple first met in 2017 at a high school track meet when they were teenagers.
The pair got engaged after the Tokyo Games in 2021 and tied the knot in October 2022.
Woodhall is a double-amputee sprinter and three-time Paralympic medallist.
Davis-Woodhall, a long jumper, also competed at the Tokyo Games.
Lee Kiefer and Gerek Meinhardt are both Olympic fencers on Team USA.
The pair met just before the 2012 Olympic Games in London and married in 2019.
They both study medicine at the University of Kentucky.
Anneli Maley and Marena Whittle both play basketball for Australia.
The same-sex couple play on Australia's 3×3 basketball team.
"It's about getting to create something that is normal and to have visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community," Maley told The Courier Mail ahead of the Games.
"It's obviously about basketball, but how cool is it that we get to be that example for the younger girls and boys who get to see that representation on an Olympic stage," she added.
Italian fencer Rossella Fiamingo and her fiancé swimmer Gregorio Paltrinieri are both decorated Olympians.
Fiamingo and Paltrinieri have both won Olympic gold medals.
The couple met at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and are now engaged.
Christen Press and Tobin Heath play for the USA women's soccer team.
The teammates opened up about their secret eight-year romance during an episode of the "Watch with Alex Cooper" Olympics show in late July.
"Tobin and I were not really friends. We weren't really running in the same circles. And then as soon as I actually got to know her, there was just, like, a magnetism," Press said.
100m gold medallist Noah Lyles, who reps Team USA, and Jamaican athlete Junelle Bromfield, have been dating for about two years.
Surfers João Chianca and Luana Silva compete for Brazil.
Slovakian race walkers Dominik Černý and Hana Burzalová got engaged last summer.
Černý proposed to Burzalova at the finish line of the women's 35km race at the 2023 World Athletics Championships last August.
"We have been together for almost one Olympic cycle, almost four years, so I think it was the right time," Černý told Olympics.com following the proposal.
Belgium's Gabriella Willems and Italy's Christian Parlati competed at this year's Olympics on the same day.
Brazilian volleyball player Ana Carolina Da Silva has been married to Netherlands player Anne Buijs since 2023.
Fortunately, the two volleyball players did not play against each other at this year's games.
The Brazilian women's team faces the Dominican Republic in the quarter-finals on August 6, while the Dutch team crashed out in the preliminary rounds.
Fencers Manon Apithy-Brunet and her husband, Boladé Apithy, competed for the host nation.
The French fencing couple married in 2021.
Apithy-Brunet took home gold for the host nation in the women's fencing sabre individual at the 2024 Games.
Apithy won bronze in the men's team sabre.
Olympians Jasmine Moore and Joseph Fahnbulleh met at the Tokyo Games in 2020.
