Chak De! India
Another one from Shah Rukh Khan’s films, this movie is an
inspiration in itself. However, there is something special about the title
track, sung by Sukhwinder Singh, which fills us all with the desire to do
something for the nation and make it proud. Penned by screenwriter Jaideep
Sahni, the music for this song was composed by Salim and Sulaiman Merchant.
Rang De Basanti
Isn’t this the movie that made an entire generation aware of
its patriotism? The title track of the movie is filled with passionate lyrics,
with Rang De Basanti, the war cry of Indian Independence Movement,
perfectly inculcated to immortalize the sacrifice of those who took part in the
movement. Written by Prasoon Joshi and sung by Daler Mehendi and K.S Chithra,
this song had its music composed by maestro A.R. Rahman.
Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo
Any list of Indian patriotic songs would be incomplete
without this song, and that too in the voice of Indian nightingale Lata
Mangeshkar. Even though it doesn’t talk directly about patriotism, it makes us
all think about the supreme sacrifice that our soldiers do for our safety. The
song was written by legendary poet and lyricist Kavi Pradeep and was composed
by C.Ramchandra.

Maa Tujhe Salaam
Another jewel by Mozart of Madras A.R. Rahman, this is
probably the first patriotic song that the Indian youth remembered by heart.
Written by Mehboob Kotwal, this song is the perfect tribute to our mother
India, and voices the feelings of every Indian who shares the love for his/her
country.
Bharat Ka Rehnewaala
The iconic song from Purab Aur Paschim describes why
India is different from every other country in the world was sung by Mahendra
Kapoor and written by Indeevar, with music by Kalyanji Anandji. The song has
everything in it, which would make you sit back and take pride in your
nationality.
Dulhan Chali
Another song from Purab Aur Paschim, is a
fitting tribute to our motherland, describing it as a young 20-something girl
(the movie released in 1970, 23 years after independence) who needs to be
protected from the outer world. The foot-tapping music is different from the
usual sober music of patriotic songs.
