Meet Daisy Ridley, the 23-year-old who's the real star of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' - her Hollywood career is blowing up
Born and raised in Westminster, London, Daisy Ridley is the youngest of five sisters. Her father is a photographer and her mother works in internal communications at a bank.
She's not the only one in her family with performing in her blood. Her great-uncle is Arnold Riley, an actor well-known for his role in "Dad's Army," a popular British sitcom that ran from 1968-1977.

Daisy went to school at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, where she specialized in musical theater, and graduated in 2010 when she was 18.

Her earliest roles were in 2013 when she starred in an episode of the "Youngers," a British comedy, and an episode of "Casualty," a British drama that has been on the air for 30 seasons.

Also in 2013, she was in two short films: "Livesaver" and "Blue Season." "Blue Season" is a five minute film that was created for the the Sci-Fi London 48-hour Film Challenge competition. Here is the five-minute short:
She appears in Wiley's music video for "Lights On." The song and video were released in 2013. Here's the clip:
She appeared in two episodes of "Silent Witness" back in 2014. Her character gets mixed up in a murder crime and ends up the victim. She was also in "Toast of London," a British comedy series.
She also made an appearance in the the second season of PBS' "Mr. Selfridge," alongside star Jeremy Piven.
Because of her casting in "The Force Awakens," Daisy was unable to complete filming scenes for "The Inbetweeners 2," which would have been her first film role. Her scenes were subsequently deleted.

Daisy cites Malala Yousafzai as one of her inspirations and advocates for literacy and education for children everywhere.
Daisy is also a massive fan of "The Great British Bake Off." She even fangirled after meeting one of the contestants on the street.

Her first role since wrapping "The Force Awakens" is voicing Taeko in the English dub of Studio Ghibli's "Only Yesterday," which will be released in 2016. Daisy is a self-proclaimed Studio Ghibli fan.
