64. Benjen Stark

The younger brother of Ned Stark, hero of Jon Snow, and First Ranger of the Night’s Watch. Benjen disappeared after a trip beyond the Wall in season one. In season six, he comes back looking a bit like a wight but acting like a human, and saves Bran and Meera from some White Walkers. Then in season seven, he sacrifices himself for his nephew, Jon Snow.

Time of death: Season 7, episode 6, "Beyond the Wall"

Cause of death: Killed by wights, after sacrificing himself so Jon Snow could escape.

Sadness ranking: 3. We didn't get to know him very well. He was a Stark, but he was only briefly in a few episodes. His presence in "Beyond the Wall" felt a little desperate and too much of a coincidence.
