Unleash the Titan!

On Thursday night in Los Angeles, at Tesla's design facility, Elon Musk will reportedly reveal two new products: a "home" battery and a large "utility scale" battery.

For energy nerds, this is great stuff.

But for Tesla fans, it's going to be tough for CEO Musk to top the giant robot he enlisted to reveal the all-wheel-drive P85D version of the Model S sedan.

"Release the Titan!" Musk said last October.

The crowd was blown away.

The entrepreneur and modern-day industrialist who was the inspiration for the Tony Stark character as played by Robert Downey, Jr. in the "Iron Man" movies had become a living embodiment of the over-the-top superhero.

The Titan went on to sling around a Model S chassis, to oohs and aahs.

Musk will be back in Hawthorne, CA on Thursday night, so maybe he and Tesla have something similar planned. I'm not sure how thrilling it will be, however, to watch a big orange robot arm manipulate a battery that looks sort of like a refrigerator.

Of course, Musk is also CEO of SpaceX.

So maybe there will be a rocket involved.
