The India government announced scholarship programme in the United Kingdom — ‘2020 Commonwealth Master's Scholarship’ — for one-year postgraduate courses. However, the scholarship does not extend to MBA programmes.

The Human Resource and Development Ministry (MHRD) is inviting applications for the scholarship programme, and the last date to apply is October 30. Interested candidates can apply on the official website of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), UK.

The CSC will nominate 39 candidates for the scholarship. The scholarship will extend to courses such as science and technology for development; strengthening health systems and capacity; promoting global prosperity; strengthening global peace, security and governance; strengthening resilience and response to crises. It will include living expenses, tuition fees and the airfare.

The merit list will shortlist university on the basis of ‘QS Ranking 2020’ ranking for the selected course.

The one-year postgraduate courses are to commence from October 2020. However, these courses will not be valid as per the Indian education system, which validates only two-year postgraduate programmes.
