- The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the Class X and Class XII examinations that were scheduled to take place on February 28, 29.
- This is for students in violence-hit areas of North East pockets, while the exams in the rest of Delhi shall be conducted as per the schedule.
- The board also clarified that no change has been made to the exam scheduled from March 2 onwards. However, the new dates for the postponed exams have not been informed yet.
While the exams in the rest of Delhi shall be conducted as per the schedule.
“In view of the request received from the Directorate of Education, and with the view to avoid inconvenience to students staff and parents, the examinations scheduled for February 28, 29 in NorthEast part stands cancelled,” CBSE announced.
Class X students were supposed to sit down for Accountancy and Hindi exams while Class XII students had several exams including engineering graphics and salesmanship scheduled on the two dates.

This came in response to the Delhi High Court directions — that asked the board to chalk out an alternate long-term plan for examinations in these areas. The court said that the students need to know the schedule for the next 15 days in advance, and not on a ‘piecemeal’ basis.
“The situation there (northeast Delhi) is only getting worse. There have been more deaths. You should give time for the situation to settle down," Justice Rajiv Shakdher had argued after a private school in east Delhi requested change in schedule considering the safety of students.
The school said that its students have been allotted CBSE centres that are approximately 16 kilometres away, on the Chandu Nagar-Karawal Nagar road — and it takes at least 40 minutes to reach there.
Earlier, the board also called off the Class X and Class XII exams that were supposed to take place on February 26.

Class X students were supposed to sit down for an English exam while Class XII students had a web applications exam. Before this, there have been at least three such incidences where the schools were shut in Delhi. The schools remained shut in the North East Delhi for two days as the situation was still tense.
