- The Union Cabinet Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal today announced that the students who are not presently in the same location as their board examination centre because of the lockdown can appear for the pending exams from their current location.
- The ministry also said that the students appearing for the boards will be allowed to give the exams from their own schools so that the students do not have to travel to their exam centres.
- To facilitate smooth functioning, the board increased the number of the examination centres to 15,000 — which is five times the number of centres earlier at 3,000.
"Thousands of children had moved to their home state due to the crisis, keeping in mind the problem of students appearing in the CBSE board examinations. CBSE has decided that such students can take their board exams in their home district," the Union Minister tweeted.
The ministry also said that the students appearing for the boards will be allowed to give the exams from their own schools so that the students do not have to travel to their exam centres. But, there will be no exam centres in containment zones.
To facilitate smooth functioning, the board increased the number of the examination centres to 15,000 — which is five times the number of centres earlier at 3,000. This is to ensure that students and teachers follow social distancing norms.
As many as 31 lakh students are set to sit for the examinations under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from July 1, 2020. Recently, the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) said that the board examinations for classes X and XII, that were postponed due to Coronavirus lockdown, will now be held from July 1 to July 15.
As per the new guidelines, the students will have to undergo mandatory thermal screening before entering the premises. In addition, they will be required to wear masks and carry their own hand sanitizers.
The exam results for class 10th and 12th are expected to be released by the end of July. The answer sheet evaluation process is also going on.
