Ed Cowan once felt like stabbing Virat Kohli

India and Australia have always shared intense competition between themselves when it comes to cricket, but the competition and rivalry went several notches higher in the recently held Border-Gavaskar trophy.

The series not only saw amazing cricket from both the teams, but would also be remembered for several controversies, including Steve Smith’s ‘brain fade’ to Virat Kohli’s ‘end of friendship with Aussies’.

Amidst these controversies, another former Australian cricketer has remembered his run-in with Kohli, and how he felt like stabbing the Indian skipper with a stump.
Australian opener Ed Cowan has said that he once felt like picking up a stump and stabbing Kohli after being told something "highly inappropriate.

"I had a very sick Mum during one of those series and he said something that was inappropriate," Cowan told Fox Sports.

"Why I make the point of 'lost in translation', he said something that was highly inappropriate. A personal matter that was highly sensitive. Highly inappropriate. But he didn't realise that he'd overstepped the mark until the umpire came over and said 'Virat that's overstepped the mark' and once that was said, he took a step back and apologised," he added.

"But, there was a moment I wanted to pick up the stump and stab him."

Ever since Kohli almost called Smith a 'cheat' following his brain fade during the DRS drama in the second Test at Bengaluru, he has been in the eyes of Australian media and players.

Cowan, however, didn’t forget to add that he is a big fan of the Indian captain and that he is a phenomenal cricketer.
