Drudge takes veiled shot at Steve Bannon in mysterious tweet and goes all in against embattled Senate candidate Roy Moore
- Internet mogul Matt Drudge took what appeared to be a shot Steve Bannon on Twitter.
- Drudge has broken with Bannon lately over Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.
Conservative internet mogul Matt Drudge appeared to take a shot a former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon in a Wednesday tweet about embattled GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore.
Drudge, after featuring the headline "BANNON TURNS ON JUDGE WHORE" at the top of his website, The Drudge Report, tweeted, "A lesson on leaving politics to the professionals..."
Some on the right have launched a similar line of attack against Bannon. They feel he was irresponsible in pushing Moore, who has now been alleged of sexual misconduct by multiple teenagers when he was in his early 30s, to run for the Alabama seat.
"EPIC troll by Drudge on Bannon right now," Kurt Bardella, a former spokesperson for Breitbart, the website Bannon returned to after leaving the White House, said in an email. "Bannon used to refer to this position on Drudge as the 'Mac-Daddy' whenever a Breitbart story" would be featured on the site's banner.
Drudge linked to a Daily Beast story from Tuesday that reported Bannon, who has publicly defended Moore since the allegations broke, was considering distancing himself from the candidate.
A source close to Bannon told the publication that he said last week, "I will put him in a grave myself" if Bannon ends up finding out that Moore was lying to him about the allegations. Moore has denied any wrongdoing.
