Donald Trump goes off on 'very nasty' Hillary Clinton 'off the reservation' comment

Donald Trump unloaded on Hillary Clinton on Monday in response to a Friday comment in which the former secretary of state said she was used to dealing with men who go "off the reservation."

In an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day," the Manhattan billionaire called the statement "very nasty" toward men and said "the Indians" have "gone wild" in response.

Clinton's original comments came in a Friday interview with CNN's Jake Tapper. The host asked her about Trump's recent attacks, such as calling her "Crooked Hillary" and chastising her for "playing the woman's card."

"I have a lot of experience dealing with men who sometimes get off the reservation in the way they behave and how they speak," Clinton told Tapper. "I'm not going to deal with their temper tantrums or their bullying or their efforts to try and provoke me."

On Monday, Cuomo asked Trump why he felt that comment was offensive, yet felt it appropriate to accuse Clinton of "playing the woman's card."

"Well, she has been taking a lot of heat for that statement. Not from you, obviously, but they do call it the Clinton Network," Trump said. "But she has taken from others a lot of heat having to do with that statement. And I think it's a very harsh statement."

Trump went on to mock Clinton, saying the statement was akin her saying, "'Oh, look at me. I can handle men. Don't worry about me, I can handle men.'"

"If I made that statement about women, it'd be front page headlines," he continued. "It's a very demeaning statement."

Cuomo interjected, saying that Trump "basically did" make that statement by saying "all she's got is the woman's card."

"I won't even bring up the fact that the Indians have gone wild on this statement, and you know this," Trump said. "They think it's a disastrous statement and they want a retraction. I'm not going to get into that." 

"Well, you just did get into that," Cuomo shot back. "I had not really heard that. You did bring it up."

Clinton's campaign did respond to some apparent criticism for her "off the reservation" remark. Amanda Renteria, Clinton's national political director, wrote on Twitter that the Democratic frontrunner "meant no disrespect to Native Americans."

 Trump took his response to Clinton on "New Day" a step further Monday morning in his own tweet:
